Background
Three generations in a Brussels fur house, a university degree in the same field, and since April 2026 the oath of a judicial expert.
Qualifications and appointments
- Judicial expert — Belgian national register of judicial experts, Federal Public Service Justice, no. EXP114842845. Oath sworn before the First President of the Brussels Court of Appeal on 24 April 2026. Registered specialisations: leather; textiles and garments; fur and pelts.
- ABEX expert, code 1251 (2022) — Belgian Association of Experts. Lecturer on the ABEX Academy programme for practising judicial experts, on professional conduct and mediation practice.
- Accredited mediator — civil and commercial matters (2024); family mediation specialisation (2026), Belgian Federal Mediation Commission.
- Licencié en sciences commerciales, international management (2005) — Haute École Groupe ICHEC — ISC Saint-Louis — ISFSC, Brussels. Dissertation on information systems in the high fur trade.
- Member of the International Fur Federation.
- Board member of Brussels Expertise Labels (2026) — a label bringing together more than fifty Brussels houses.
- Lay judge at the Enterprise Court of Hainaut.
The workshop
New Embert, high fur, founded in 1954 on the chaussée de Charleroi in Brussels. Three generations have worked fur and leather there: repairing, remodelling, cleaning, storing. That daily handling is the reason a pelt, a seam or a lining tells me something. It is also why I hold, alongside the expert practice, a commercial activity in the same sector — which is declared, and which is the reason every instruction is checked for conflict before it is accepted.
Languages and travel
I work in French, Dutch and English, and I read Russian. Examinations take place at my workshop in Brussels, at a bonded warehouse, at a claimant's premises or wherever the goods are. I travel within Europe.
